Before the start of rehearsals, working on my side, I first approached the natural character of Don Juan by focusing on the language of Molière in which is revealed rather quickly how to think, say and move the text. However, this technique, which is necessary at first, may have as a result of distancing the character of the actor who performs it, and some aftershocks ranging in long sentences, others say in private conversations and certain turns of style of another time contribute to that. Fortunately, the early rehearsals, the director Jean-Sébastien Ouellette has spurred my work on a much more contemporary and intuitive character. That did not come without difficulties and required constant efforts to keep my character in its shadows, borders of the anti-game, as if I were constantly trailing of a weight drift. The Don Juan that we offer is less exuberant, but much more insidious and, hopefully, inhabited by a density that will challenge you. Vicious and cruel, that's how we want. By attacking the untouchable, denying even the existence of Heaven, this monster of pride in sink knowingly towards its inexorable fate to finally reach the immortality of the hero.
As for the whole team and our work I can only attest to the impressive control which shows the involvement of each of the participants in the project. Once again the team of the Theatre du Trident gathers around a lighthouse out a young team full of talent surrounded by experienced practitioners. It is a great honor for me to contribute my way.
